About VENETIAN DAMASK
Damask, named after the city of Damascus where it was made from the middle ages onward, takes shapes derived from nature and abstracted into patterns over hundreds of years, travelling from east to west along the silk road, bringing its exotic garden of idealised plant forms to the finest medieval interiors.
Chelsea Textiles' Venetian Damask attempts to capture some of the subtle layers of poetry and history of a faded hanging on a palace wall, revealed by sunlight.
