Venetian Damask in Claret

by Patrick Kinmonth

Inspired by the traditions of printed papers & woven silk damask in Venice.

Damask, named after the city of Damascus where it was made from the middle ages onward, takes shapes derived from nature and abstracted into patterns over hundreds of years, travelling from east to west along the silk road, bringing its exotic garden of idealised plant forms to the finest medieval interiors. Our Venetian Damask attempts to capture some of the subtle layers of poetry and history of a faded hanging on a palace wall, revealed by sunlight.

Printed in England on three linen grounds across a palette of six colours, each with an associated fine-art wallpaper.
